Rhythm & Rhyme Laptime!

Babies ages birth to 14 months come with their caregivers on Mondays at 9:30 for laptime and a short playtime. We focus on touch, rhyming and movement.

What we did in April/May of 2012:

Welcome Song: “Hickety Pickety Bumblebee”
Hickety Pickety Bumblebee
Won’t you say your name for me?
“___________________” (parent says name)
“___________________” (group repeats)
That’s your name!
That’s a very nice name!

Movement Song: “Baby put your pants on!”
(Tune: Shortenin’ Bread)
Baby put your pants on, pants on, pants on,
Baby put your pants on, 1, 2, 3.

Baby put your shirt on, shirt on, shirt on,
Baby put your shirt on, 1, 2, 3.

Baby put your socks on, socks on, socks on,
Baby put your socks on, 1, 2, 3.

Baby put your shoes on, shoes on, shoes on,
Baby put your shoes on, 1, 2, 3.

Now that you’re all dressed, all dressed, all dressed,
Not that you’re all dressed, let’s go play!

Rhyme: “Tommy Thumb”
Tommy Thumb is up,
Tommy Thumb is down,
Tommy Thumb is dancing,
All around the town.

Dance him on your shoulders,
Dance him on your head,
Dance him on your knees,
Then tuck him into bed!

Rhyme: “Jack and Jill”
Two little blue birds
Sitting on a hill.
One named Jack.
The other named Jill.
Fly away, Jack.
Fly away, Jill.
Come back, Jack.
Come back, Jill.

Tickle Rhyme: “Round and round”
Round and round the garden
Goes the teddy bear,
One step, two step…
Tickle you under there!

Tickle Rhyme: “Baby’s Fingers”
These are baby’s fingers,
These are baby’s toes.
This is baby’s belly button,
Round and round it goes!

 Fingerplay: “Here’s a bunny”
Here’s a bunny,
With ears so funny.
And here is his hole in the ground.
At the first sound he hears,
He pricks up his ears,
And hops right into the ground!

Bounce Rhyme: “A smooth road”
A smooth road to London town
A smooth road to London town
The road goes up and the road goes down.
A smooth road to London town.

(Bumpy road, windy road, jiggly road)

Bounce Rhyme: “Trot, trot”
Trot, trot, trot.
Go and never stop.
Trudge along, my little pony,
Where it’s rough and where it’s stony.
Go and never stop!
Trot, trot, trot, trot, trot!

Wrap up Rhyme: “Tick tock”
Tick tock, tick tock.
Listen to the little clock.
Tick tock, tick tock.
Now it’s time for use to stop!
Tick tock!

Goodbye Song: “We wave goodbye”
(Tune: Farmer in the dell)

We wave goodbye like this.
We wave goodbye like this.
We clap our hands for all our friends.
We wave goodbye like this.
